TK-1st grade Maker Space
The Maker Space TK - 1st Grade team of designers and engineers aren't satisfied with "cookie cutter" maker projects. Each has their own design interests, and creative style - and it's amazing watching their process. It's possible to start on a single common project - but within fifteen minutes - they're off on their own personal creative journeys.
Thursday's session began with three words: Pipe-Cleaners, Pom-Poms, and Bugs!
This butterfly emerged from its cocoon complete with a smile!
What started as a small butterfly, quickly became the latest in fashion eyewear!
Here's a completely different design take on the butterfly, complete with feathers - in blue and orange color.
The menagerie of bugs continued, with a fantastic assortment of caterpillars making an appearance.
It's interesting to see two completely different creative modeling styles at work on the same subject. A three dimensional pipe cleaner butterfly on the left, and a three dimensional relief collage of a butterfly on the right!
Caterpillars, and worms oh my!
This pink and blue caterpillar took the fuzzy feet award.
Every maker made a minimum of three bugs - moving from basic form, to the ultimate in design embellishment. The complexity, color, and composition of the butterfly on the right deserves a place on the gallery wall at LACMA.
