Starfish -is our outreach program. Teaching our students that giving with love is one of the greatest gifts we can share. Riviera Hall students and families are proud to include the following organizations in our outreach program.
Operation Christmas Child Riviera Hall donated over 200 shoe boxes filled with necessities and small toys to Franklin Graham’s Christian organization, Samaritan’s Purse. These boxes were given to children in war-torn and poverty-stricken countries as Christmas gifts.
Lutheran Social Services of Long Beach (LSS) - an established social services organization committed to servicing the needs and well-being of the South Bay communities. Each day with compassion, love and hope disadvantaged families, homeless, the abused, elderly and developmentally challenged are served at LSS community centers.
Operation DREAM World Hunger Relief Drive – DREAM stands for Dominican Republic Emergency Aid Mission and seeks to deliver hope by feeding those who are hungry both in body and in spirit. Hunger relief drives are launched in schools and churches across the South Bay. Riviera Hall School students bring specific items to school: peanut butter, rice, beans, and pasta and assist the dream project with a community wide goal of 10,000 pounds of food that is shipped to the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Project Linus- A national Ministry that provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill or traumatized. Project Linus is a rewarding and fun service opportunity for the benefit of children. The students combine efforts with the church community to donate fabric and make blankets that are distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies or anywhere a child may need a warm hug.
Sharefest Workday- Develops comprehensive programs and services that strengthen communities and meet the needs in the lives of children and families. Sharefest goals are to foster volunteerism, mentor youth to become leaders of tomorrow, establish working coalitions, and create communities of care.
Jeans for Dreams- Students select various Fridays to wear jeans to school to have half their donation to wear those jeans/shirt to go toward two wonderful charities: Community’s Child, a Christian organization committed to giving homeless mothers and infants a safe and compassionate living environment and Shepherd’s Field Village in Langfang, China which provides orphans a secure and loving home like setting. Shepherd’s Village cares for the children’s medical, emotional and educational needs and facilitate permanent adoption for the orphans.
